💎 What Is FUT Hair Transplantation?

FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) is a surgical technique where a thin strip of hair-bearing skin is carefully removed from the back of the scalp (the “donor zone”), and the individual follicular units are microscopically dissected and transplanted into thinning or bald areas.

Unlike older “plug-style” transplants, modern FUT uses microscopic follicle preparation to preserve each unit’s natural structure — allowing seamless blending, realistic density, and undetectable results.

⚙️ The FUT Procedure

Step 1: Design & Planning
Your new hairline and recipient areas are carefully designed in consultation with Dr. Meathrel to ensure proportional, natural framing and lifelong results.

Step 2: Donor Harvesting
A narrow strip of hair-bearing scalp is removed from the donor area (typically low on the back of the head). The incision is meticulously closed using fine sutures to leave a thin, linear scar — easily hidden beneath surrounding hair.

Step 3: Follicular Dissection
Under magnification, the donor strip is divided into individual follicular units (1–4 hairs each) to preserve viability and natural grouping.

Step 4: Recipient Site Creation
Tiny micro-incisions are made in the thinning or bald areas, following the natural growth angle and direction of your existing hair.

Step 5: Graft Placement
Each follicular unit is implanted with surgical precision to match your natural pattern, ensuring smooth transitions and realistic density.

Procedure time: 4–8 hours depending on graft count
